JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) has started to support the private entity to get project from overseas developing countries such as Africa, etc.

Sekisui Chemical Co., Ltd. applied to get such support and made proposal to promote trenchless sewer rehabilitation technology to Vietnam together with Urban Infrastructure Technology Center Foundation. This proposal is approved by JICA and expected to get support to promote its technology in Vietnam.

In Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam there are around 2,000km sewer pipeline network. Some of those were made during the period governed by France and now the aging of such pipeline is becoming social problem. On the other hand, the traffic is quite heavy due to the rapid growth to urbanization and have difficulty in renewing the aged sewer pipeline by open trench. This requires trenchless pipeline rehabilitation to solve such problem.

Under such circumference, Sekisui is planning to conduct trial installation of trenchless rehabilitation system first in Ho Chi Minh City by the support from JICA to show the benefit of this technology. Based on this trial installation, furthermore promotion of this technology together with Urban Infrastructure Technology Center Foundation nationwide in Vietnam is planned.
